1. Kid are growing up too fast these days
Who's to blame? Parents who are just more negligent of their child's social surroundings and cultural influences or (the easy solution) blame the internet, media, and other mass-communication platforms.2. Social and economical unbalance in certain parts (people) in Indonesia are becoming more vivid
Again, who's to blame? The best advice that I know most people can give is "put more effort and determination with a pinch of patience will bring you the wealth and comfort you want", although, those with an economically better starting point can climb the mountain faster3. We have yet appreciate the importance of nature outside its economical and commercial value.
What does that create? A careless attitude towards a priceless posession unless it can give back some sort of revenue or income. To promote is not to exploit. For example, we have great beaches but we can't even enjoy the view unless we're staying on a sea-front cottage or pay just to park. There are a few publically accessible beaches, but others are already privately owned and turned into a money conveyor. The irony is, that does not equal to the amount of funds to care for the beach, the water, and the surroundings. To sum up :
People then tend to blame the government for not paying attention or make accusations that the funds were corrupted. But we should really blame ourselves. How long are we going to wait for someone else to do something to prevent further destruction? It bothers me that it's hard for our mouth to remind others, but its easy to criticize.
Examples? Rather than trying to illustrate what I saw, I suggest you go to Anyer, Carita, Jakarta Bay-side, and the beaches of Gunung Kidul just to name a few.
A story from a friend I met in Karimun-Jawa, Christine, told me about a friend of hers who went to various beaches in Asia and picked up trash that he would found daily. And while he was doing it, he would slowly persuade the locals to do the same and thus created a chain of voluntary trash pickers.
I am affraid that my niece will suddenly act 17 when she turns 12, talk and dress and spend like the average teenager.
I am affraid that the situation will create a multi-dimensional social clash and suspicion towards each other.
To visit the next beach, I'm affraid to find something that might disappoint me as I have been disappointed before by the sight I saw.
But I will try to stay an optimist none the less.
